Modem dialog Manual page 148
This dialog box allows you to set various items related to
your modem: which COM port your modem is attached to, whether
to use tone or pulse dialing, whether to turn the speaker on
or off during dialing, the speed to use, and a setup string.
Port Either COM1: or COM2:
Dialing Pulse or tone. If you hear a tone when you
push the buttons on your telephone, select
tone.
Modem sound When checked, Commander Mail will turn your
modem's speaker on while it dials so you can
hear the progress of the call.
Baud rate You should set this to the maximum speed of
your modem. For example, if you have a
Hayes 2400 modem, set this to 2400.
Modem initialization string
Unless you know what you're doing, or have one of the modems
below, you probably won't want to change this field.
Modem Initialization string
Hayes 1200 AT V1 X1 S10=20
Hayes 2400, 9600 AT V1 X4 S10=20 &D2 &C1
US Robotics password AT V1 X1 F1
Telebit Trailblazer AT &F X1 S52=1 S53=1 S10=20
Modem Switch settings
Hayes 1200 sw 1 up, sw 6 up
Hayes 1200+ sw 1 up, sw 6 up, sw 10 down
Hayes 1200B sw 3 to right, sw 4 to left
US Robotics password sw 1+2 off, sw 3+4 on
For more advanced users, the modem needs to be initialized
to adhere to two conditions:
. The signal Carrier Detect should be asserted only when
a carrier is present.
. When DTR is dropped, the modem should hang up and
reset.
Most 1200 baud modems use external switches to set these
options. Most 2400 baud modems, on the other hand, can be
set up using the modem initialization string.
